on the boards: 42 Social Housing
A proposal for social housing in Son Servera, Spain by Peris-Toral Architects. The sloping tiled roofs and projecting sandstone walls attempt to make a contextual dialogue without cheapened replication. The apartments were a recent entry in the Total Housing competition hosted by Architizer, Storefront for Art & Architecture and Actar Publishing.

new work ::: Kripalu Housing
The recently completed Kripalu housing by architects Peter Rose is part of the master plan to reshape the Kripalu Centre for Yoga & Health. The ecologically innovative design sits on 300 acres of dense forest in the Berkshire Mountains. The design in plan, is arranged along a tapering axis that reveals views through the slatted cypress cladding of the landscape and funnels breeze to the spartan concrete structure within.

The project was proposed as an alternative to the official line of urban planning, instead is based on door to door marketing such as tupperware and the first prototype was recently built in the centre Madrid.

Suburban Tract
Currently housing is mass produced on a mammoth scale, in controlled factories and out in the converted farmland of exurbia. Thousands of houses at a time are rolled out on blindingly fast schedules, with sequenced assembly line-like efficiency sometimes as little as 40 days - it is the fast food of shelter.

Architects -scape have proposed a 70,000 m2 master plan for new housing, offices, hotel and shopping facilities for the Comparto Cultural District located in the Kenzo Tange designed Bussiness District in Naples, Italy.
on the boards: Landmark Project in Sweden
A proposal by 3XN for a 13,000 m2 mixed use structure marking the entrance to the Vällingby Parkstad, Sweden. The curved design with lively shaped balconies embraces the area, in contrast to the traditional buildings surrounding the site. The dense city structure at the base adds activity at eye level and creates a close relation between work life, housing, and leisure.

Cherokee Lofts
Cherokee Lofts is an urban infill, mixed-use housing project designed by archiects Pugh + Scarpa inspired by a series of paintings by Patrick Hughes titled, “Prospectivity.” The building like the paintings appear to be ever changing and physically moving while being viewed, created by a façade that allows the occupant to adjust, at will screens that reveal life within.
